PassionBio sea buckthorn juice is the juice of the orange-yellow berries of sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), imported from Germany and sold by J&J Aronia in Canada in a 3-litre bag-in-box with a built-in tap. The label lists the ingredient as sea buckthorn juice and describes it as not from concentrate, skimmed and pasteurized.

✓ 100% Pure Organic Sea Buckthorn Juice — skimmed, not from concentrate, no added sugar, no preservatives
✓ Excellent Source of Vitamin C — 150 mg per 250 mL serving (167% of the Daily Value)
✓ High in Potassium — 450 mg per serving, plus 3 g of fibre
✓ 3-Month Freshness After Opening — Bag-in-Box stays fresh up to 3 months, no refrigeration needed
✓ Organic & Vegan — Canada Organic, non-GMO, grown and pressed in Germany

A single 250 mL serving of this juice is an excellent source of vitamin C with 150 mg — 167% of the Daily Value — and is high in potassium (450 mg). At 80 calories per serving with 5 g of naturally occurring sugars, it's a bold, tart berry juice in its purest form.

What Does Sea Buckthorn Taste Like?

Honest answer: intense. Pure sea buckthorn juice is boldly tart and tangy, with a zesty, citrus-like character and a distinctive fruity note that is entirely its own. It is not a sweet sipping juice — think of it more like a wild, northern cousin of passion fruit and lemon. Most people enjoy it as a small daily shot, diluted with water, or blended with sweeter juices.

Because nothing is added and nothing is taken away except excess oil, this is sea buckthorn the way it actually tastes — unlike sweetened "nectars" or diluted drinks that often contain only a small percentage of real sea buckthorn. Every batch is pressed and pasteurized in Germany and certified organic by ABCERT AG.

Why Bag-in-Box?

The 3-litre Bag-in-Box is far more practical than bottles or cartons for daily juicing. Here's why:

📦 Stays Fresh 3 Months: The vacuum bag collapses as you pour, keeping air out.

🚰 Easy-Pour Tap: The built-in tap dispenses the exact amount you need — perfect for a small 100 mL daily serving.

🌱 Eco-Friendly: The box is fully recyclable cardboard. The inner bag uses significantly less plastic than bottles — reducing packaging waste by up to 80% compared to glass.

💰 Better Value: 3 litres gives you 12–30 servings depending on portion size. That's significantly more juice per dollar compared to small bottles or juice shots.

🏠 No Fridge Needed: Store at room temperature (below 25 °C) before and after opening. The airtight vacuum bag keeps the juice fresh on your pantry shelf.

📬 Ships Safely: The flexible bag inside the rigid box is virtually unbreakable during shipping — unlike glass bottles.

How to Enjoy Sea Buckthorn Juice

🥃 Daily Shot: 100 mL straight — bold, zesty, and done in two sips. The classic way.

💧 Diluted with Water: Mix with still or sparkling water — add a spoon of honey for a homemade sea buckthorn lemonade.

🍊 Juice Blends: Combine with orange, apple, or carrot juice to mellow the tartness.

🥤 Smoothies: Blend with mango, banana, or peach — sweet fruits balance sea buckthorn perfectly.

🍵 Warm with Honey: Stir into warm (not boiling) water with honey — a cozy northern classic for cold days.

🥗 Dressings & Mocktails: Its citrusy tang shines in vinaigrettes, spritzers, and alcohol-free cocktails.

Suggested serving: 100 mL, as is or mixed with water. Natural sediment may form — do not shake; gently tilt the box from side to side if needed. After opening, consume within 3 months. Store upright.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does sea buckthorn juice taste like?

Pure sea buckthorn juice is boldly tart and tangy with a zesty, citrus-like character — closer to passion fruit or lemon than to a sweet berry juice. Most people drink it as a small 100 mL shot, dilute it with water, or blend it with sweeter juices like orange or apple.

Why is there sediment in the juice? Should I shake it?

Natural sediment may form and float to the top — this is completely normal for pure, unfiltered-style sea buckthorn juice. Do not shake the box. If needed, gently tilt it from side to side, keeping the spout as the lowest point.

Is this sea buckthorn juice sugar-free?

This juice contains no added sugar. Each 250 mL serving contains 5 g of naturally occurring sugars from the berries themselves. Nothing is added during processing.

Is this juice made from concentrate?

No. Our sea buckthorn juice is 100% pure pressed juice — not reconstituted from concentrate, with no water added. It is gently skimmed to remove excess fruit oil for a smoother texture.

How long does the juice stay fresh after opening?

Up to 3 months at room temperature (below 25 °C). The vacuum bag inside the box collapses as you pour, preventing air from reaching the juice. No refrigeration is required — just store the box upright and protect it from direct sunlight.

Can I buy pure sea buckthorn juice in Canada?

Yes — this 100% pure organic sea buckthorn juice is available to order online in Canada. The Bag-in-Box format is designed to ship safely without breakage.

What is Bag-in-Box packaging?

Bag-in-Box is a sealed, food-grade plastic bag with a dispensing tap, placed inside a protective cardboard box. As you pour juice, the bag collapses under vacuum — keeping air out and the juice fresh far longer than a bottle or carton. The cardboard is recyclable and the bag uses up to 80% less plastic than an equivalent amount of bottled juice.
